Farmer's Market Bounty

Look at all this beautiful produce!



Last weekend my husband and I went to the Pearl Farmer's Market for the first time this season.  We were not disappointed (we never are, really).  What a haul we brought home:  Baby bella mushrooms, swiss chard, baby carrots, red cabbage, gorgeous spinach, Brussels sprouts, baby beets, radishes and plump, juicy strawberries.  I just love, love this stuff!  (As if you didn't know that already!)  And one of the cool things about all this produce is, with the exception of the strawberries and the mushrooms, I have been able to, and still do, grow all these vegetables for my family and friends in my little Texas hill country garden.  I'm very humbled when I think about it.  How blessed I am.

  1. I can imagine many tasty meals out of that bounty! I find gardening a humbling experience as well...to have a small hand in the miracle that growth is, is quite a blessing.

  2. Thanks, Cat. I've had a lot of fun making meals with this lovely produce. Yes, gardening is very humbling. I sometimes stand back at my garden and say, "wow"...I had a hand in growing all this. Humbling indeed.

  3. Oh how fun! Seeing those Strawberries reminds me of when I was able to go to the Poteet Strawberry Festival! It was wonderful! I can't wait to see what you cook! Oh, and on the menu tonight is hopefully the tuna walnut dish! Have a great evening!

  4. Ah yes, the Poteet Strawberry Festival! A summer must for many here in South Texas. I'm so glad you're trying the tuna/pasta dish. It's a bit rich but I think very good.
