June GBBD

It's been *so* hot and *so* dry here in South Texas lately that not much is blooming.  But yesterday my Texas Star Hibiscus presented its first bloom and it is gorgeous!

    I have been trying for a year to locate this plant or it's seeds....I love it!!

    Praying along with you. I planted two star hibiscus last fall and both are surviving but not as much growth as I'd like. I was hoping they would bloom this summer but maybe just too dry...

    A native plant -- not native to Texas, but to Georgia. My MIL called them 'hollyhocks.'

    Howdy partner,
    Sorry, you're from Texas and I couldn't help myself after all I'm from Alabama and don't know any better...:) I love your Texas Star hibiscus. I have 3 triangulated in a corner forming a big clump, then I got two stands of "Herbstonne" rudbeckia on either side along each corner. They not only bloom at the same time relatively but bloom at almost the same height too...and that's TALL, MIGHTY TALL......:) and it looks so nice. I listen to wklup or something like that every saturday and sunday, an online live gardne program from san antonio, some guy named Dr. Jerry Parsons, boy he's a hoot if there was one. But while I'm laughing, I'm also learning. I wish Texas was closer to Alabama, I'd take me a ride down to Millburgers Nursery and give them folks some of my hard earned money. Thanks for inviting me into your garden and have a nice and I hope wetter summer.
