I know in most of the country, summer gardening is at its peak. Well here in South Texas,
summer gardening is over! By this time of year, summer gardens are winding down and we are gearing up for fall gardens. Although it has been unusually hot this summer (since June 1st, we recorded 65 days at 100 degrees or above), my garden did very well. I harvested boatloads of peppers, tomatoes, cantalope, zucchini, summer squash and I'm still harvesting peppers and egg plant.

What did I do with *all* that cantalope? Well, I made cantalope bread, cantalope ice cream, cantalope soup and I have about 8 cups of cantalope puree still in my freezer for winter use!
