This is a beautiful
Texas Star Hibiscus plant that I blogged about last summer. Again, this past fall, I cut it back, set it in the greenhouse, watered it regularly and waited for spring. And again, it didn't disappoint me. It seemed like overnight, this beautiful plant burst from its winter sleep and grew seemingly four inches! It's one of the prettiest plants that live on my back patio during the summer and I'm so happy to see it wake up! And I can't wait to see those gorgeous red flowers. The hummingbirds
love them too :)
I planted one last fall and I wasn't sure it would come back but it has and I can't wait to see how it does in the garden! I went to your previous post and yours is beautiful! Spring is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Cat! This is one of my favorite plants. The flowers are gorgeous! Yes, spring is so much fun. I've been so busy in the greenhouse/garden that I haven't had much time to visit my friends' blogs! I plan to catch up today! Good to hear from you. Pray for rain!
ReplyDeleteHello Diane,
ReplyDeleteI never had a Texas Star Hibiscus but the other ones I have are just blooming gorgeous right now. Hibiscuses are besides of the Amaryllis my favorites. I just love the gorgeous big and very bright colored blooms. When next time I will make a trip to the nursery I will check for the Texas Star Hibiscus and after your recommendation and reading your post from last year, I will get one for sure too.
Thanks for the great info Diane.
Btw, I like your new garden clogs ;)
God Bless
Paula Jo
Hi Paula Jo :) This is truly a beautiful plant. It needs lots of water and doesn't like the full Texas sun and heat. Mine gets morning sun and afternoon shade and is very happy. Let me know if you get one! Thank you for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteDiane,
ReplyDeleteyou are very welcome but you don't need to thank me for stopping by. Actually you could almost ask for me to pay rent since I'm coming here almost daily. I might not every time leave a comment but I love reading your posts and watching the progress of your gardening.
What regards the Texas Star Hibiscus so I will let you know if I found one. The hibiscus I have are in sun for most of the day and are doing just fine. So I will have to find a perfect spot first to make sure the Texas Star Hibiscus wouldn't be in a too shady area of my yard but won't get the full sun for most of the day either.
Thanks for telling me about.
Paula Jo
Order up! I'll take a greenhouse and a star hibiscus!!! Last fall I planted silene regia for the hummingbirds. They also love agastache. I can hardly wait to see them again. :o)
ReplyDeleteHi TS :) It is just so cool when you put what appears to be a dead plant in the greenhouse for the winter, water it, keep it warm, and in the spring...it just seems to wake up and produce all this beautiful green and soon, these beautiful red flowers. You should be coming into gardening season very soon. I need to catch up on my friends' blogs! I've been so busy in the greenhouse and garden!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paula Jo...Let me know if you find a Texas Star Hibiscus. I bought mine from an acquaintance who owns property near our ranch house. I think it cost me $5.00 :)
